My wife Joy passed away in February from MND. She had been diagnosed only in the previous October with a prognosis of 6 months to 10 years. So little is understood about the disease and its causes that even giving a prognosis is guesswork as she lasted less than 4 months. 

We promised Joy that any fund raising that we did would go to the MND Association a charity that not only helps people with the disease and their carers but also actively funds research to increase understanding in the hope that one day it will be understood and then more effective treatments can be found.

Losing Joy has been (still is) unbearable and one way to make something out of this loss is to make a difference in some small way by helping other people who have this awful disease.  Don't ask why I chose abseiling, I think it sounded like a good idea at the time but I'm committed now so please help to make it worthwhile. I won't be doing it on my own, Claire our youngest daughter will also be having a go, she hasn't done it before and it's years since I did so it should be a good challenge for us both.
